Promote good oral health and wellbeing with teeth fillings courtesy of Woden Dental Centre in Canberra. Teeth fillings are used to fill a hole or cavity, with the decayed portion of the tooth removed. They are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth, as well teeth that have worn down over the years. This helps restore them to a much healthier state, and to function normally without further damage. It also helps to relieve pain and sensitivity when ingesting food and drink. Teeth fillings can be made from a variety of different materials, such as:
  • Amalgam: Made from a mix of silver, tin, copper, mercury and zinc
  • Composite Resin: A natural-looking substance that can match the colour of other teeth
  • Glass Ionomer Cement: Used on baby teeth or in areas where there’s not much biting force
  • Gold and Porcelain: Are long-lasting and can match colour of other teeth.
A tooth filling treatment can roughly last between 30 minutes to an hour. To ensure you feel as comfortable as possible, our qualified dentist will apply a numbing spray or gel to the affected area before a local anaesthetic is used. Once numb, they will then remove the decay and seal the tooth. If necessary, our dentist will file down any part of the filling to ensure proper bite function is restored The price of teeth fillings depends on several factors, including the location of the tooth, the material used and number of tooth surfaces that need to be filled. A typical filling can cost between $100 to $150, while a more complex filling can cost up to $320. If left untreated, deep decay can spread to the roots, which can be painful and result in the loss of your tooth.
