Veneers are custom-made shells that are bonded to the surface of your teeth. They are designed to look just like natural teeth while improving on size, shape and colour. They can also conceal crooked teeth, gapped teeth, or stained or discoloured teeth.
Veneers are thin and durable, and in most cases, do not require permanent grinding of healthy teeth to create space.
At Woden Dental Centre, we offer high-grade porcelain veneers which can cover up most types of tooth damage and – if properly cared for – can last up to 25 years.
Before treatment, you will undergo a full dental examination with one of our qualified dentists. At your next appointment, they will begin shaving back each tooth and make an impression, which will then be sent off to a dental lab. In the meantime, you will be provided with a pair of temporary veneers.
Our dentist will soon prepare your teeth by cleaning, etching and polishing them, which will help strengthen the bonding process. The veneers will then be placed onto your teeth using a dental cement and, once in the correct position, photopolymerised. To ensure they are fully bonded, a light beam will be used to activate chemicals in the cement to make it harden.
The price of veneers will depend on what material is being used and where in the mouth they are being placed. While composite veneers are cheaper at roughly $860 per tooth, porcelain veneers are much stronger and cost around $1983 per tooth, making them a better investment in the long run.
